Water quality problems are one of the most common issues spa owners experience, especially during warmer weather.

Cloudy or green water can indicate poor sanitation, filtration problems, inadequate circulation, or failing equipment.

Common causes:

  • Incorrect chemical balance

  • Dirty or clogged filters

  • Poor water circulation

  • Old spa water

  • Failing pumps

  • Excessive organic contamination

  • High phosphate levels

Queensland’s warm climate can accelerate algae growth and bacterial contamination if water chemistry is neglected.

What to do:

  • Test and balance chemicals

  • Clean or replace filters

  • Drain and refill old water

  • Ensure pumps are circulating properly

  • Shock treat the spa if required

  • Contact a local spa repair specialist if water problems continue despite treatment

Persistent cloudy water can sometimes indicate hidden circulation or equipment faults rather than purely chemical issues.
